Concert Notes:
With BossFest, Vintage Vinyl continued the round table format they had established with success at BobFest months earlier, and invited all three performers from that previous event to return for a a celebration of the Bruce Springsteen catalog. In addition, an ad was posted on the front window of the store as well as on vvinyl.com opening the floor to any other performers who wished to perform at the event, pending audition.

As a result, Bossfest attracted the attention of original E Street Band member Vini Lopez and his current band Steel Mill. Lopez had been the drummer for Steel Mill back when it was fronted by Springsteen himself in the late 60s before both of them moved on to the now-legendary E Street Band. Steel Mill became the headlining act, and performed a selection of very obscure early Bruce songs from his time in the band. Steel Mill's five song set lasted a full 40 minutes, powered by electrifying solos from guitarist John Galella.

The open audition process also yielded an addition to the round table group, Steve McKenna, who joined returning performers Bruce Tunkel (The Red House), Frankie McGrath (Maybe Pete) & Dylan Roth. Kelly McGrath, also of Maybe Pete, joined Frankie on guitar and mandolin, as highlighted in their powerful rendition of "Racing in the Streets." Performance highlights included Bruce Tunkel's stripped down piano performance of "Kingdom of Days" off the latest album "Working on a Dream," Frankie & Kelly McGrath's rousing "Land of Hope & Dreams" and Dylan Roth's take on the Born to Run epic "Backstreets," which included portions of "Drive All Night."
